About Artisan Living
Artisan Living was founded on a simple belief: the homes we build should reflect the people who live in them — not the systems of a volume builder.
Established in 2018 and based in Perth, Artisan Living is a family owned construction company delivering bespoke homes and complex renovations across Metropolitan and Regional Western Australia. At the heart of the business are two hands-on directors — Sam Blomeley and Luke Edmonds — whose combined 45+ years in the building industry shape every project we undertake.
We are deliberately selective about the work we take on. Not because we want to build less — but because we want to build better.
Our Story
Artisan Living grew from a shared passion for craftsmanship, solving complex construction challenges, bringing unique ideas to life, and delivering projects that stand the test of time.
Sam and Luke both began their careers on the tools. They understand construction from the ground up — not just in theory, but in practice. Over their decades in carpentry, site management, project management and registered building practitioner roles, they’ve worked across everything from technically demanding renovations & extensions to brand new, high end custom homes.
What brought them together was a common frustration with the disconnect that often exists between builders and clients.
Homeowners would be sold a vision — then handed over to layers of administration. Communication became filtered. Decisions slowed. Accountability blurred.
From custom new builds to intricate renovations and structural refurbishments, the focus has always remained the same
thoughtful planning, disciplined execution, and craftsmanship that stands the test of time.
Sam Blomeley is a builder who understands detail — because he has lived it.
Beginning his career in carpentry, Sam developed a deep respect for precision and structural integrity early on. Timber construction in particular became a defining strength. Framing, structural detailing, complex design principals — these aren’t abstract concepts to Sam; they’re practical disciplines he has mastered over decades.
As his career progressed into site and project management, Sam built a reputation for clarity and consistency. Trades respect him because he speaks their language. Clients trust him because he communicates clearly and honestly.
Sam’s strength lies in his ability to see both the big picture and the smallest detail — and understand how they connect.
He is solutions-focused by nature. Challenges are approached calmly and methodically. Rather than escalating issues, he works through them — collaborating with trades, consultants and clients to find practical outcomes that protect quality and budget.
For clients, working with Sam means knowing that their home is in experienced hands. It means conversations that are straightforward, informed and transparent. And it means having a director who remains accessible throughout the build.
Luke Edmonds brings balance, foresight and leadership clarity to Artisan Living.
Before co-founding Artisan Living, Luke successfully ran his own carpentry company for over a decade. During that time, he delivered a wide range of high-profile carpentry projects across Western Australia — building a reputation for reliability, technical precision and consistent quality. Managing his own business gave Luke firsthand experience not only in construction delivery, but in client relationships, budgeting, programming and accountability.
That foundation continues to shape the way he leads today.
Where existing structures meet new design, where structural modifications require careful staging, where services need to be reworked without compromising integrity — Luke thrives in these environments.
He understands that renovation work demands both technical skill and sensitivity. You’re not simply constructing something new; you’re integrating with what already exists.
Luke’s role within Artisan Living centres around coordination, forward planning and client communication. He ensures that trades, suppliers and consultants are aligned. That timelines are realistic. That plans are monitored carefully. That no decision is made without clarity.
Clients value Luke’s measured approach. He is approachable, calm under pressure, and committed to transparency. He believes good communication prevents most problems — and if challenges do arise, they are addressed openly and practically.
Together, Sam and Luke form a complementary partnership: one grounded in craftsmanship and structural expertise, the other in coordination and delivery discipline.
Our Approach
At Artisan Living, we believe the building process should feel considered — not chaotic.
Direct Communication
When you build with us, you deal directly with Sam and Luke. Not through layers of administration. You have access to the people responsible for your project.
Quality Over Scale
We intentionally limit the number of projects we undertake at any one time. This allows us to remain present, maintain oversight, and protect the standard of work we are known for.
Solutions-Focused Thinking
Every build has variables. Rather than reacting to challenges, we anticipate them. Our experience allows us to assess options quickly and guide clients toward practical, well-informed decisions.
Craftsmanship First
Our foundations in carpentry shape the way we build. Timber construction, structural detailing, and complex integration work are not outsourced responsibilities — they are core competencies carried out by our own in house team of highly skilled carpenters.
Strong Trade & Supplier Relationships
Decades in the industry have built trusted relationships with skilled trades and reputable suppliers across Western Australia. These relationships matter. They create accountability, consistency and pride in the finished product.
Transparency & Accountability
Clear scopes. Realistic programs. Open conversations about cost. No surprises where they can be avoided — and honest discussions when they can’t.
Why Artisan Living
Building or renovating a bespoke home is personal. It is a significant financial commitment — but more importantly, it is a commitment to how you want to live.
Clients choose Artisan Living because they want more than a transaction. They want:
Experienced leadership with over 45 years of combined industry knowledge
Directors who remain hands-on and accessible
A builder comfortable with complex structures and detailed refurbishments
A team that values long-term relationships over short-term volume
Clear, consistent communication from start to finish
We are not the largest builder in Western Australia — and we don’t aim to be.
We are a team that takes pride in thoughtful construction. In disciplined project management. In being accountable for every stage of the process.
Most importantly, we understand that trust is earned slowly — and protected carefully.
Artisan Living exists to build homes that reflect craftsmanship, integrity and considered design. Homes that feel solid. Intentional. Personal.
And when the project is complete, we want our clients to feel confident that the people who built their home stood behind every decision along the way.
If you are considering a bespoke home or a complex renovation across Metropolitan or Regional WA, we welcome the opportunity to have a conversation.
No pressure. No hard sell.
Just practical advice from builders who care about getting it right.
